Karylle is more than just Zsa Zsa Padilla's daughter as her exciting music career continues to testify. Ana Karylle Padilla Tatlonghari in real life, the multi-talented star is also a respected TV host, film and stage actress, and blogger. She blasted into the local music scene in 2001 with the funky dance single Can't Live Without You which appealed so much to her fan base of teen girls. She even went on to win two Aliw Awards when she debuted as a singer via the album Time To Shine -- Best New Female Artist and Most Promising Female artist. Interestingly when 2006 came in time for the release of her second album, her new single You Make Me Sing also gave other local artists to sing original Filipino music. The infectious single fits Karylle's unique jazz-oriented vocals. The sassy musical arrangement and engaging music video helped a lot to make music critics consider her for citations. She would soon earn the following nominations for it:
Karylle’s much-awaited album is called Roadtrip which was timely after releasing a personal album that came out of her failed relationship with actor Dingdong Dantes. Her 2011 album chronicles her journey to a new life and a new-found love for music which is a continuation of her 2010 11-track disc, Time For Letting Go. Roadtrip is a slight departure from her previous effort in that she's no longer singing about being almost over another person (remake of Almost Over You). The single of the same title is mid-tempo but is heavy enough for adult contemporary listeners. It can be taken as specifically produced for car music use because of the effective vocal and music arrangement that exudes fondness for traveling.
