Hijo (pronounced as ee-ho is son in Spanish) is MCA Music's 2011 band signup after its main members -- frontman Nathan Azarcon, guitarist Ira Cruz, and drummer Vic Mercado -- were released from the disbanded Bamboo. The 5-member band is completed by guitarist Junji Lerma and keyboardist Jay Orduña.
The band claims its sound to be moody in that their songs can be angst-filled and danceable. Both are also inherent of Bamboo's sound but Hijo's is definitely different only because the ones at the helm of songwriting is no longer just one person. Hijo's single, Tamalee, is evident of the organic teamwork that each member contributes to the song writing experience. Hijo's creative process can be interpreted as free-flowing which is substantial to how the band is going to attract new fans and keep aficionados of the now-defunct Bamboo. In this regard, nothing is forced and there's no propaganda. Just like the relationship of a mom and dad to their favorite son, the band's brand of rock music is all about what's natural.
